Yeoman IO

Yeoman 1.0 is more than just a tool. It’s a workflow; a collection of tools and best practices working in harmony to make developing for the web even better.

Our workflow is comprised of three tools for improving your productivity and satisfaction when building a web app: yo (the scaffolding tool), grunt (the build tool) and bower (for package management).

  • Yo scaffolds out a new application, writing your Grunt configuration and pulling in relevant Grunt tasks that you might need for your build.
  • Grunt is used to build, preview and test your project, thanks to help from tasks curated by the Yeoman team and grunt-contrib.
  • Bower is used for dependency management, so that you no longer have to manually download and manage your scripts.

All three of these tools are developed and maintained separately, but work well together as part of our prescribed workflow for keeping you effective.

Dear Propellerhead Webmaster

Dear Propellerhead Webmaster,

This is now the 8th and final email I am sending you. I never received an activation email from you, which made my fresh purchase of reason 6 null and void, as you mandate software verification via your website, even though your program comes with a dongle. So the program just doesn’t work at all. Dead in the water.

It also made the other companion merchandise I purchased from Guitar Center null and void…expensive speakers, midi interface etc., total was around 1500.00. I wrote you 7 emails in the last day, and you never responded to me. Maybe you were having a pint with your friends because it’s the weekend. Maybe you just didn’t feel like “getting around to it”, as your website language states. It actually states that…”If you are having problems submit the form and the webmaster will respond when he gets around to it”…really man? I purchase your product and this is my only point of recourse? Some dude out having a pint on saturday night now directly affects your global revenue stream? Wow.

Nevertheless I realized something today…I have an iMac and Logic is pretty comparable, or at least competitive to Reason. I called the store manager at guitar center and though he initially objected (he said you guys really don’t like people returning your product because its software or whatever), but based on my circumstance he agreed to give me a total refund of my purchase of your product and unfortunately the other merchandise as well. I am sure you have a new fan in him, and hopefully the taste in his mouth isn’t too bad for Propellerhead at the moment, but I suspect otherwise, and I’m sure your local distributor may contact you “when he gets around to it”.

I am actually a web developer myself, and so I understand how challenging pleasing people like me can be. But nevertheless this is business and my experience has been basically a deal breaker. Because your website didn’t send me an email (I tied creating 3 accounts btw, and no your email isn’t in any of the spam folders).

Then it hit me. Oh webmaster you are a wise one. You wanted me to see that I don’t need Reason, I should be using is Logic!

Apple Logic to be precise is available right in the app store for my iMac, and it’s around half the price of Reason…I don’t have to feel cheated, frustrated, burned, and irate by Reason.

It’s Saturday night, the kids are just now asleep, I have a fresh cup of coffee, and I am getting ready to push “buy” on Logic.

Thank you for opening my eyes and helping me to realize what I wanted all along…just to make some damn music man…and helping me to get to that end result, saving me some money in the long run, and helping to point out the superior experience I will have preferring Logic over Reason…all without you having to do anything, well except drink that pint.

Cheers,
Sean
